How To Make Sushi Rice in a Rice Cooker

Sushi is Japanese cuisine, made typically from rice and other fish and vegetables. The texture is quite sticky and slimy. The rice that is used for Sushi is usually made from short-grain rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups of sushi rice
  • Water as needed
  • 1/2 cup of rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt
  • Rice cooker

Instructions
 

  • Firstly, rinse the rice
  • In the rice cooker, add the rinsed rice grains and the water required to boil it
  • Spread the rice in the rice cooker using your hand or the back of a spatula
  • The next step is to drain out the water, to be precise, the extra water from the rice. Make sure you do not drain all the water.
  • You will have to repeat step no. 4 about three more times
  • After the rice is perfectly rinsed and washed, add water to it until the water is around 1 inch above the rice cooker's rice.
  • According to your rice cooker's cooking option, turn it on and let it cook.
  • Now, take a small saucepan and add rice vinegar, sugar, and salt to it.
  • Next, try to cook it on a medium flame till the mixture has completed mixed with each other
  • Next, put the mixture into the rice that is already cooked
  • Now, take a wooden spatula and mix the mixture very thoroughly so that the flavor gets evenly spread.
  • Finally, Sushi rice is ready.
